Tips On Buying Second Hand Cars
The second hand cars market is huge with so many makes and models to choose from at various prices that there really should be no problem in finding something that is suitable for you. However it is not just a case of seeing one and buying it as there are several things you need to be check before even considering handing over any money.
The first thing is to carefully scrutinise the paperwork that comes with it as this is where discrepancies may appear with the car. Check that the figures are the same on the dashboard but most importantly check that the chassis number is the same on both and make sure that the plate is original and not been tampered with in any way whatsoever.
If you do not really know anything about the mechanical side of a car then always take someone with you who at least has some understanding of this as it can prevent you from making a very expensive mistake. You may think that you have a bargain but someone with any kind of mechanical knowledge may be able to realise that something is wrong and it will cost you a fortune to get it on the road hence why they are selling it so cheap.
Always check the car out in natural daylight and not under artificial lighting and look at it from various angles. This shall help to show up any differences in the paintwork which comes as a result of repairs or being in a crash so remember to look along the lines.
Get the hood up on the car and listen to the engine and let it tick over for a bit to hear if there are any changes. Again this is where a little bit of knowledge comes in useful and always take it on a test drive before you even agree to hand over any cash.
The test drive is important when looking at buying any car never mind second hand cars as it lets you get a feel for it. Never rush into buying one just because you like the look of it before you check it over thoroughly as you could quite easily end up costing yourself a lot of money in the short term.
